C-MORE, Toronto University

The Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering (C-MORE) is part of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of Toronto University. C-MORE was founded in 1994 by Professor Andrew Jardine with a vision to connect research arising from inside the Toronto university with real-world applications. Since its founding, C-MORE has expanded and evolved, using its combined industry and government funding to perform valuable research in asset management in condition-based maintenance, spares management, maintenance and repair contracts, and failure-finding intervals for protective devices. Simply stated, C-MORE’s goal in working with some of the world’s leading asset-intensive industries such as utilities, mining and the military is to take advantage of their existing data to make good evidence-based management decisions.

Conscious Asset

Co-founded by James Reyes-Picknell, the bestselling author of “Uptime – Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management, Conscious Asset began its activities in 2004. Since inception it has taken the perspective that physical asset maintenance, reliability, and asset management are often run on auto-pilot with little thought to what it really takes to achieve high performance. Raising awareness of successful practices, showing people “what good looks like” and helping them with plans to achieve it is what we do. The result is high reliability of physical assets which enable high operational performance (output) at optimum levels of spending, which leads to low unit costs and enhanced profitability, as well as improved safety, environmental and risk performance.
